Technical - Mechanical Design Team Leader

We are seeking a Technical - Mechanical Design Team Leader to join our Technical Department in Cairo. This role is critical to ensuring the successful design and execution of mechanical systems for large-scale commercial, residential, and industrial projects.

As a Mechanical Design Team Leader, you will oversee a team of skilled engineers, driving innovation and ensuring compliance with international and local standards. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality designs for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical systems, contributing to the success of projects aligned with Egypt Vision 2030. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include leading design reviews, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring that all mechanical designs meet project specifications and deadlines. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design team in developing detailed designs for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
• Manage the preparation of mechanical design drawings, specifications, and calculations in compliance with the Egyptian Code and international standards.
• Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and other disciplines to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems into overall project designs.
• Review and approve mechanical design deliverables to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with project requirements.
• Ensure adherence to safety and sustainability standards, including LEED and ISO 14001, in all mechanical designs.
• Conduct design reviews and value engineering exercises to optimize system performance and cost-efficiency.
• Mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering professional growth within the team.
• Monitor project timelines and budgets, ensuring that mechanical design activities are completed on schedule and within allocated resources.
• Collaborate with procurement teams to specify and select mechanical equipment and materials.
• Support construction teams during the installation and commissioning phases, addressing technical queries and ensuring design intent is met.
• Stay updated on advancements in mechanical design technologies and best practices, incorporating them into BEC Arabia's processes.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical design, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and HAP (Hourly Analysis Program).
• Strong knowledge of the Egyptian Code, ASHRAE standards, and NFPA codes.
• Registration with the Egyptian Engineers Syndicate.
• Demonstrated experience in designing mechanical systems for large-scale commercial, residential, or industrial projects.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Certification in LEED AP, Estidama, or other green building standards.
• Experience with BIM workflows and advanced tools like Navisworks.
• Familiarity with international project standards such as BS, EN, or ASME codes.
• Previous experience working on mega-projects or government-led infrastructure initiatives.
