About the Role
BEC Arabia is seeking a motivated Assistant Engineer to join our dynamic HO Projects Department in Riyadh. This role is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional to gain hands-on experience in the construction and infrastructure sectors, contributing to projects that are shaping the future of Saudi Arabia under the ambitious Saudi Vision 2030 framework.
As an Assistant Engineer, you will work closely with senior engineers and project managers to ensure the successful execution of complex civil engineering and construction projects. You will play a critical role in supporting project planning, design reviews, on-site coordination, and quality assurance activities. This position offers a unique blend of office-based tasks and fieldwork, providing a comprehensive understanding of the engineering lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of project plans, schedules, and technical documentation to support engineering and construction activities.
- Conduct on-site inspections to monitor progress, ensure compliance with project specifications, and identify potential issues.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to review design drawings, specifications, and construction plans.
- Support the coordination of subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely project delivery.
- Monitor and document project progress, including preparing daily and weekly reports for internal and client review.
- Ensure compliance with Saudi Building Code (SBC), safety regulations, and quality standards on all assigned projects.
- Participate in risk assessments and propose mitigation strategies to address potential project challenges.
- Utilize software tools such as AutoCAD, Primavera P6, and MS Project for project planning and documentation.
- Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
- Contribute to sustainability initiatives by integrating Mostadam and other green building standards into project designs.
- Maintain accurate records of engineering activities and ensure proper documentation for regulatory compliance.
- Support the implementation of digital construction technologies, including BIM tools, to enhance project efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction, civil engineering, or infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Primavera P6, and MS Project.
- Familiarity with Saudi Building Code (SBC) and other relevant construction standards.
- Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE).
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and compliance standards, including ISO 45001.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on mega-projects or government-funded infrastructure initiatives.
- Knowledge of Mostadam or other green building certification systems.
- Certification in BIM or digital construction tools.
- Advanced coursework or certification in project management (e.g., PMP).
- Familiarity with LEED or Estidama sustainability standards.
Working Conditions
- Based in Riyadh, with a combination of office work and on-site project visits.
- Regular exposure to construction site environments, requiring the use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
- Standard working hours with occasional extended hours to meet project deadlines.
- Potential for regional travel within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
