Technical - Senior BIM Structural Engineer

About the Role

BEC Arabia is looking for an experienced Senior BIM Structural Engineer to join our dynamic Technical Department in Khobar. In this pivotal role, you will lead the structural BIM modeling efforts for some of Saudi Arabia’s most ambitious construction and infrastructure projects, including giga-projects aligned with Saudi Vision 2030. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, MEP engineers, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration of structural designs into comprehensive BIM models.

As a Senior BIM Structural Engineer, you will be at the forefront of digital construction, utilizing advanced tools like Revit, Navisworks, and Dynamo to optimize structural designs and workflows. Your work will directly contribute to the successful delivery of high-profile projects for clients such as Saudi Aramco, NEOM, and Red Sea Global. This role offers a clear growth trajectory, with opportunities to mentor junior engineers, lead innovation initiatives, and shape the future of BIM implementation at BEC Arabia.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of detailed structural BIM models using Autodesk Revit in compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
• Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of structural designs into multidisciplinary BIM models.
• Develop and enforce BIM execution plans, standards, and workflows tailored to project-specific needs.
• Perform clash detection and resolution using tools like Navisworks to ensure model accuracy and constructability.
• Generate detailed shop drawings, schedules, and material take-offs directly from BIM models.
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards, including the Saudi Building Code (SBC) and ISO 19650 for BIM management.
• Collaborate with project managers to align BIM deliverables with project timelines and milestones.
• Train and mentor junior BIM engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
• Implement parametric modeling and automation techniques using tools like Dynamo to enhance productivity and accuracy.
• Monitor and report on BIM-related progress, challenges, and opportunities to senior management.
• Stay updated on emerging BIM technologies and best practices to maintain BEC Arabia’s leadership in digital construction.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in structural engineering, with at least 5 years in BIM modeling and coordination.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and Dynamo.
• Strong knowledge of Saudi Building Code (SBC) and international standards such as ACI and Eurocode.
• Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE).
• Familiarity with ISO 19650 standards for BIM management.
• Proven experience in clash detection, constructability reviews, and producing shop drawings.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or Construction Management.
• Certification in Autodesk Certified Professional: Revit for Structural Design.
• Experience with parametric design tools like Rhino and Grasshopper.
• Knowledge of LEED or Mostadam green building standards.
• Prior experience working on Saudi Vision 2030 mega-projects.

Working Conditions

• Location: Office-based in Khobar with occasional site visits as required.
• Standard working hours with flexibility for project deadlines.
• Exposure to construction site environments during site visits, requiring PPE compliance.
• Potential for regional travel within the GCC for project coordination.
