About the Role

BEC Arabia, a leader in construction, infrastructure, and engineering, is seeking a Planning Engineer to join our Project Controls Department in Khobar. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful planning, scheduling, and execution of our high-profile projects, which span commercial buildings, industrial facilities, and government mega-projects. As a Planning Engineer, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and monitor project schedules, ensuring alignment with client expectations and organizational objectives.

In this role, you will work closely with project managers, site teams, and stakeholders to provide accurate scheduling insights and proactive solutions to potential delays. Your expertise in tools like Primavera P6 and MS Project will be instrumental in maintaining project timelines and optimizing resource allocation. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and ensure alignment with project objectives and client requirements.
  • Monitor project progress against baseline schedules and provide regular updates to project managers and stakeholders.
  • Analyze critical paths, resource allocations, and potential delays, proposing corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Coordinate with project teams to gather data on progress, resource usage, and potential bottlenecks.
  • Prepare and present detailed progress reports, including earned value analysis, to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with project planning standards, contractual requirements, and relevant regulations.
  • Collaborate with cost control teams to integrate scheduling and budgeting processes.
  • Support the tendering process by developing preliminary schedules and resource plans for bids.
  • Conduct regular site visits to verify progress and ensure alignment with the project schedule.
  • Implement best practices in planning and scheduling to enhance project efficiency and outcomes.
  • Train and mentor junior planning staff to build departmental capabilities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, tools, and techniques in project planning and controls.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project planning and scheduling within the construction or engineering industry.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Project.
  • Strong understanding of critical path method (CPM) and earned value management (EVM).
  • Familiarity with Saudi Building Code (SBC) and other relevant regulations.
  • Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Construction Management or a related field.
  • Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP) or Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP).
  • Experience with mega-projects or government infrastructure initiatives.
  • Knowledge of BIM tools and their integration with scheduling software.
  • Familiarity with Saudi Vision 2030 projects and objectives.

Working Conditions

  • Office-based role with regular site visits to project locations.
  • Standard working hours with occasional extended hours based on project needs.
  • Exposure to construction site environments, requiring adherence to safety protocols and use of PPE.
  • Travel within the GCC region may be required for project coordination.
