About the Role
BEC Arabia is looking for an experienced Technical - Mechanical Team Leader to join our Technical Department in Cairo. In this pivotal role, you will lead a team of mechanical engineers and technicians, driving the design, analysis, and implementation of mechanical systems across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure and construction projects. From commercial buildings to industrial facilities and urban developments, your expertise will ensure the delivery of innovative, efficient, and compliant mechanical solutions.
As a key player in our Cairo operations, you will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, electrical, and project management professionals. Your role will involve overseeing technical deliverables, ensuring adherence to the Egyptian Building Code and international standards, and mentoring team members to foster professional growth. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical engineering team in the design, analysis, and implementation of mechanical systems for various construction and infrastructure projects.
- Develop detailed mechanical designs, specifications, and calculations in compliance with the Egyptian Building Code and international standards.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, electrical, and project management professionals, to ensure seamless project execution.
- Review and approve technical drawings, plans, and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
- Monitor project progress, ensuring timely delivery of mechanical engineering milestones within budget constraints.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, including OSHA and ISO 45001, across all mechanical engineering activities.
- Mentor and train junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
- Conduct site inspections and audits to verify the quality and functionality of installed mechanical systems.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to select appropriate materials and equipment for mechanical systems.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and client review.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering within the construction or infrastructure sectors.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and other mechanical design software.
- Strong knowledge of the Egyptian Building Code and international standards such as ASHRAE and ISO.
- Proven experience in managing teams and delivering complex engineering projects.
- Registration with the Egyptian Engineers Syndicate.
- Familiarity with safety standards such as OSHA and ISO 45001.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Certification in LEED or other green building standards.
- Experience with mega-projects such as the New Administrative Capital or similar large-scale developments.
- Knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modeling) processes and tools.
- Proficiency in project management tools such as Primavera P6.
Working Conditions
- Office-based role with occasional site visits to construction and infrastructure project locations.
- Standard working hours with flexibility for extended hours during project deadlines.
- Exposure to construction site environments, requiring adherence to PPE and safety protocols.
- Minimal regional travel within Egypt as required by project needs.
