About the Role

BEC Arabia is seeking a Senior BIM Mechanical Engineer to join our Technical Department based in Cairo, Egypt. As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality mechanical engineering solutions for large-scale construction and infrastructure projects. This position is integral to our commitment to leveraging cutting-edge Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies to enhance project efficiency, accuracy, and sustainability.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with project managers, architects, and other engineering disciplines to develop and coordinate detailed mechanical designs. You will also oversee the creation and management of BIM models, ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage detailed BIM models for mechanical systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, structural engineers, and electrical engineers, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs.
  • Review and validate mechanical designs and drawings to ensure compliance with the Egyptian Code and other relevant standards.
  • Implement and enforce BIM standards, workflows, and best practices across projects.
  • Conduct clash detection and resolution using advanced BIM tools to identify and mitigate potential design conflicts.
  • Prepare detailed documentation, including schedules, material take-offs, and reports, for mechanical systems.
  • Provide technical support and training to junior engineers and BIM technicians on mechanical modeling and BIM processes.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure timely delivery of BIM deliverables within project timelines and budgets.
  • Monitor and update BIM models throughout the project lifecycle, from design to construction and handover.
  • Ensure compliance with sustainability standards such as LEED or Mostadam where applicable.
  • Stay updated on emerging BIM technologies and mechanical engineering trends to continuously improve processes and deliverables.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 5 years in a BIM-focused role.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and other BIM tools.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems design, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
  • Familiarity with the Egyptian Code and other relevant mechanical engineering standards.
  • Experience in clash detection and resolution using tools like Navisworks Manage.
  • Excellent understanding of BIM workflows, standards, and best practices.
  • Registration with the Egyptian Engineers Syndicate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Certification in Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) for Revit or other BIM tools.
  • Experience with sustainability-focused projects and green building standards such as LEED or Mostadam.
  • Knowledge of Dynamo for Revit or other scripting tools to automate BIM processes.
  • Previous experience on large-scale infrastructure or urban development projects.

Working Conditions

  • Office-based role located in Cairo, with occasional site visits as required.
  • Standard working hours with potential for extended hours during project deadlines.
