About the Role

BEC Arabia is seeking a Senior BIM Mechanical Engineer to join our Technical Department in Khobar. In this pivotal role, you will lead the development and implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes for mechanical systems across a diverse portfolio of high-profile projects, including commercial buildings, industrial facilities, and government mega-projects. As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to deliver innovative, sustainable, and precise mechanical designs that align with Saudi Vision 2030's infrastructure goals.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include managing BIM workflows, ensuring compliance with international and Saudi-specific standards, and mentoring junior team members. You will play a critical role in enhancing project efficiency, reducing design conflicts, and driving digital transformation within BEC Arabia. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and management of BIM models for mechanical systems, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, structural engineers, and MEP specialists, to integrate mechanical designs seamlessly into overall project models.
  • Develop and enforce BIM standards, templates, and workflows tailored to mechanical engineering requirements.
  • Review and validate mechanical BIM models to ensure compliance with the Saudi Building Code (SBC), project specifications, and client requirements.
  • Implement clash detection and resolution processes using tools like Navisworks to identify and mitigate design conflicts.
  • Train and mentor junior BIM engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure BIM deliverables align with project schedules and milestones.
  • Prepare detailed mechanical design documentation, including 3D models, shop drawings, and as-built records.
  • Monitor and report on BIM-related project progress, identifying risks and proposing solutions to maintain timelines and quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Saudization (Nitaqat) requirements and other regulatory frameworks relevant to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  • Stay updated on emerging BIM technologies and best practices, recommending innovations to enhance project outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in BIM modeling and coordination, with a focus on mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and other BIM tools.
  • Strong knowledge of Saudi Building Code (SBC) and international mechanical design standards.
  • Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE).
  • Familiarity with clash detection processes and tools like Navisworks Manage.
  • Experience in large-scale construction projects, including commercial, industrial, or government sectors.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Certification in BIM Management or equivalent.
  • Experience with sustainability-focused projects and green building standards such as Mostadam or LEED.
  • Proficiency in additional software tools like Dynamo for Revit or AutoCAD MEP.
  • Previous experience working on Saudi Vision 2030 giga-projects.
  • Knowledge of ISO 19650 BIM standards.

Working Conditions

  • This position is office-based in Khobar, with occasional site visits to project locations across Saudi Arabia.
  • Standard working hours with flexibility to meet project deadlines.
  • Travel may be required to attend client meetings, site inspections, or project coordination sessions.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided for site visits.
