About the Role

BEC Arabia is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Health & Safety Project Engineer to join our team in Riyadh. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the highest standards of health and safety across our construction and infrastructure projects, aligning with both Saudi regulations and international best practices. Working closely with project managers, site teams, and regulatory bodies, you will implement proactive safety measures, conduct risk assessments, and drive a culture of safety excellence.

As part of BEC Arabia's Health & Safety Department, you will contribute to the successful delivery of high-profile projects, including government giga-projects, commercial developments, and smart city initiatives. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety plans tailored to project-specific requirements.
  • Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with Saudi Labor Law, the Saudi Building Code (SBC), and international safety standards such as OSHA and ISO 45001.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, hazard analyses, and safety audits to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Coordinate with project managers, site supervisors, and subcontractors to enforce safety protocols and corrective actions.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and the development of preventive measures.
  • Ensure all personnel are trained in safety procedures, emergency response, and the proper use of PPE.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed safety documentation, including reports, logs, and compliance records.
  • Collaborate with regulatory bodies and clients to meet project-specific safety requirements, including ARAMCO and SABIC standards where applicable.
  • Promote a safety-first culture through regular toolbox talks, workshops, and awareness campaigns.
  • Support the implementation of sustainability initiatives, including green building standards such as Mostadam and LEED.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in health and safety roles within the construction or infrastructure sectors.
  • NEBOSH International General Certificate or equivalent safety certification.
  • Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE).
  • Proficiency in safety management software and tools.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, ISO 45001, and Saudi Building Code (SBC) regulations.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field.
  • Certification in ISO 14001 Environmental Management.
  • Experience with ARAMCO-approved safety standards.
  • Familiarity with digital construction tools, including BIM 360.
  • Previous experience on Saudi Vision 2030 mega-projects.

Working Conditions

  • Based in Riyadh, with frequent visits to active construction sites.
  • Combination of office and fieldwork, requiring the use of PPE on-site.
  • Exposure to outdoor conditions, including high temperatures during summer months.
  • Standard workweek with occasional extended hours to meet project deadlines.
  • Regional travel may be required to support multiple project sites.
