About the Role
BEC Arabia is seeking a highly motivated QS - Civil Engineer to join our Quality & Safety team in Cairo, Egypt. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the financial and operational success of our projects by managing cost estimation, quantity take-offs, and contract administration. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including project managers, site engineers, and procurement specialists, to deliver world-class infrastructure and construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for civil engineering projects, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project specifications.
- Analyze project drawings, specifications, and contracts to identify cost implications and potential risks.
- Monitor project budgets and provide regular updates to project managers and stakeholders.
- Evaluate contractor and supplier bids, ensuring compliance with technical and financial requirements.
- Conduct site visits to verify quantities, assess progress, and ensure adherence to project plans.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to source materials and services at optimal cost and quality.
- Prepare and review payment applications and invoices for contractors and suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with the Egyptian Building Code and other relevant regulations.
- Support contract administration, including claims management and variation orders.
- Develop and maintain cost databases to improve estimation accuracy for future projects.
- Participate in risk assessments and propose mitigation strategies related to cost and quality.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in quantity surveying or cost engineering within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Primavera P6, and MS Excel.
- Strong knowledge of Egyptian Building Code and Egyptian Labor Law.
- Familiarity with FIDIC contracts and contract administration principles.
- Membership in the Egyptian Engineers Syndicate.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Construction Management or a related field.
- Certification in MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors).
- Experience with BIM tools such as Revit or Navisworks.
- Previous experience in large-scale urban development or infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of green building standards such as LEED or Mostadam.
Working Conditions
- This role is office-based in Cairo, with occasional site visits required.
- Standard working hours, with flexibility for project deadlines.
- Site visits may involve exposure to construction environments, requiring PPE and adherence to safety protocols.
- Travel within Egypt may be required for project coordination.
- Climate conditions typical of Cairo, including hot summers.
